Percy Range

Review

    I have used the Percy range of software for many years. All of them have clear and uncluttered screens with buttons large enough for young children to click on with ease.

    The CD’s are easy to navigate and each activity has 3 levels of play. There is the added advantage of when a new CD from the range is introduced that the children quickly and confidently use it, as the format and layout are the same for each new CD. They include a range of teacher options including being able to select a particular activity which the children cannot navigate out of. There is also the option to hide the exit button. These two features allow children to participate independently and stay on task.

    The whole range is highly suitable for using on an interactive whiteboard. Many of the titles, including ‘Percy Gets Into Shapes’, ‘Percy's Picture Puzzles’, and ‘Percy's Skills Builder’ are particularly suitable for the Foundation Stage and support the early learning goals. Others such as ‘Percy Learns Time’, ‘Percy's Money Box’ and ‘Percy Keeps Counting’ support the National Curriculum requirements and are very successfully used in Year 1 and Year 2. The children find Percy captivating and enjoy meeting him, presenting a large variety of different activities. They especially enjoy the rewards at the end. I would highly recommend this software to educational practitioners working in either the Foundation Stage or Key Stage 1.
