The main menu of River
Focus provides easy access to the four main reference sections
of the program, the activities menu and the teacher settings
page.

The water cycle is
investigated in a fully animated slide show where the user is
introduced to the process and any unfamiliar terms. The
entire sequence is narrated and older/more competent users can
learn more about the cycle via the information button.

|
Once the water cycle
has been explored, the user can play a click-and-drag game to
try and correctly label different parts of the sequence.
|
|
|
|
The landforms menu
provides easy access to information on 14 different types of
landforms created by rivers.
|
|
|
|
This illustrates how a
meander develops. Each page is fully narrated with more
information for older users. Animations and video footage
are also included in various sections.

|
A selection of movies
are included throughout the program to help illustrate key
points and reinforce learning.
|

|
|
The landforms quiz
encourages the user to catch as many fish as possible by
correctly answering the questions based on river landforms.
|

|
|
A word search can be
played on-screen to find the names of different river landforms.
|
|
|
|
Have a go at this cloze
activity and fill in the missing words to complete the sentence
about the infiltration of water.

The glossary provides a
short description of all the difficult words used throughout the
program.

The scrapbook makes it
easy for the user to record their findings or produce a page on
a given topic. Text and graphics can be inserted on to the
page, which can then be printed or saved for later use.

Ten printable/photocopiable
worksheets are included on the CD. These are provided in
PDF format for easy printing.

|
On the settings page
(which can be optionally password protected), the teacher can
not only control sound playback and volume, but also what
additional features are available to the user. For
example, the teacher may wish to disable the printing and
scrapbook facilities for their class.
